Flash Animations
Here are some basic flash animations i have been working on in class. Click on the .gif images above to see the animations. I exported them as .gif animations so the frame rate is slow, but you can get the idea.

Create a weird image using photoshop - Dave
For this image i took an image of a lighthouse from sample images and played around with the hue and saturation. I was fiddling with the magic wand tool and somhow got a mirrored image of the lighthouse, I'm not quite sure how, but it looked interesting so i kept it. Then I layered 2 separate images of earth, changed the hue and saturation again and then used the smudge tool on the background in a figure 8 pattern until it drew the land to the sky and sky to land to simulate a gravitational effect of the 2 planets. I also placed a lens flare effect in the sky near the lighthouse.

Ineffective Ad 3
This ad is ineffective because dark writing on a dark background is too hard to read, it looks tacky, cheap and there's just somthing really dodgey about the whole ad.
Ineffective Ad 2
At first I thought this ad was for some kind of restaurant. I don't like the colours, there is too much reading required to find out what the ad is about and the subject of the ad is unclear. For these reasons i believe that this ad in inefective.
Ineffective Ad 1
I don't think this ad is very effective it seems amatuerish and cheap. So much red may make this ad stand out, but i find it hard to look at.
Effective Ad 3
This ad is effective because the melting effect instantly gives a sense of heat to the image. Then you have a celebrity sports person reaching desperately for the only thing that looks cold. Lastly the logo for the product being advertised is well placed in the bottom left as this is where your eye is naturally drawn by the movement in the image.

Effective Ad 2
I think this ad is effective because it has high quality imagery which gives you the feeling that the product is also of high quality. It is also obvious that the truck is the product that is being advertised.
Efective Ad 1
I think this ad is effective because it is simple, it gives you all the information you need and has a photo of a cute baby with a grumpy face which grabs your attention and also makes you think about your children and what would happen to them if you don't have life insurance when you die.

Welcome!
G'Day all,
Welcome to my blog.
I'm Gerard, but you can call me Gez (pron. jez) if you like.
Did my first ever drawing class this morning. Yes... that's right drawing.... with pencil and paper. Not exactly my forte, but i enjoy a challenge and it will come in handy for story boarding and expresssing ideas. It should also help to get the creative juices flowing and give me the confidence to create my own artworks instead of just mainpulating other peoples art.
Any hoo this is my blog.... Enjoy!
